Seeing the Family Table Collaborative in the St. Patrick’s Day parade felt especially moving this year.
It was such a joyful, celebratory moment - made even more meaningful by the fact that just days before, they had been doing the hard, grueling work of caring for the community during the blizzard, working around the clock in dangerous conditions and in partnership with other local organizations to help deliver 15,000 meals across the Cape. To see them then being cheered on in the parade felt like exactly what should happen: a moment of recognition for those who show up when it matters most.

FTC calls itself Cape Cod’s community kitchen, and that really says it all. They’re doing the kind of work that makes a community stronger, healthier, and more connected.
At the center of it is Jeni Wheeler, co-founder and executive director, (seen here in her oh-so-awesome artichoke costume!) who has helped shape Family Table Collaborative into something truly special. On their site, FTC describes her as the creative mind behind the organization, and that feels exactly right. There’s vision there, of course - but also warmth, energy, and a real commitment to caring for the Cape in a meaningful way.
What I especially love about Family Table Collaborative is that their work feels both practical and deeply human. They are focused on nutritional security - not just food, but nourishing food, community connection, and dignity. Since 2020, they say they’ve distributed more than 205,000 meals, rescued more than 100,000 units of fresh produce, and mobilized more than 550 volunteers. Those numbers matter, but what matters even more is what they represent: a whole lot of people being cared for on Cape Cod.
Family Table Collaborative is one of those special Cape organizations that deserves to be known, celebrated, and supported. If their work speaks to you, there are so many ways to get involved - from donating, to volunteering, to simply helping spread the word. It’s a chance to be part of something truly good happening right here in our community.
I hope you’ll take a moment to learn more about Family Table Collaborative, follow the work they’re doing, and see the many ways to support them. You can visit their website HERE, and Facebook page HERE.
